Please note that there are no additional charges for mileage (not applicable for Contract Hire).
LATE VEHICLE RETURNS
Please note that if you are late returning the vehicle the following charges apply: One-Two hours late – additional 25% of daily rate will be charged. Two-Four hours late –
additional 50% of daily rate will be charged. If you return the vehicle more than four hours late a full additional day will be charged.

The Birmingham Depot is open 24 hours a day and to our knowledge we are the only rental company in the UK to offer this service. Many customers find this particularly useful for collecting a vehicle early in the morning for an early start. You may also telephone any time day or night to book vehicles or obtain prices etc.

PUNCTURES AND BREAKDOWNS
We have accounts with all major nationwide tyre and breakdown / recovery companies in the UK. If you are unfortunate enough to have a puncture or breakdown please telephone us day or night and our staff will arrange help; our back up service is second to none.
INSURANCE
When hiring on your own insurance it is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is covered, at all times, comprehensively and for the correct value. Please note that it is your responsibility to inform your insurance company the full details of the vehicle you are hiring including the registration number.
PAYMENTS AND DEPOSITS
The estimated total of the hire plus a £500.00 credit card or company cheque deposit is payable at the commencement of hire. (£750 for 413CDi Mercedes or 7.5 Tonne vehicles and above) if hiring on our insurance. If you are covering the vehicle with your own insurance the deposit is £350.00. Please note that you can pay cash for your hire but your deposit will need to be paid by company cheque or credit card. Deposits for drivers under 25 are currently £750.00. Please note that you can reduce the deposit payable to £150.00 for vehicles smaller than 7.5 tonne or £250.00 for 7.5 Tonne vehicles by taking out our Collision Damage Waiver – please see below for details.
DRIVERS AGES AND INSURANCE
If you can cover our vehicle with your own fully comprehensive insurance policy there are no restrictions as to the age of the driver.
If you wish to hire a vehicle inclusive of PFB insurance cover the minimum drivers age is 21 although an extra premium is payable if the driver is aged under 25. The minimum age in all circumstances for the hire of minibuses is 25.
Cars are only available for hire to customers who can provide fully comprehensive insurance cover.
PFB insurance cover is available on all vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonnes gross weight.
When you hire a vehicle from PFB and you pay for our insurance, you are insured fully comprehensively against damage to our vehicle and any third party. However, if you do have an accident of any kind you will be liable to pay our current insurance excess which is £500.00 for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight and £750.00 for 7.5 tonne vehicles and for drivers aged under 25. Please note that you can reduce the insurance excess payable to as little as £50.00 by taking out our Collision Damage Waiver – please see below for details. If you have allowed a person to drive who hasn’t been authorised by us, then our insurance becomes void and you will be liable for the full cost of any repair or accident
COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER INSURANCE
If you are hiring a vehicle inclusive of PFB insurance cover you can reduce the excess payable in the event of an accident to £50.00 for vehicles up to 3.5 tonne gross weight or £75.00 for 7.5 tonne vehicles by payment of a small additional premium of £10.00 per day for vehicles up to 3.5 tonne gross weight or £15.00 per day for 7.5 Tonne vehicles – please ask at the time of collection.
VEHICLE DELIVERY & COLLECTION
Vehicle delivery & collection is available for account customers. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to deliver or collect a vehicle unless you have an account and the vehicle is to be covered by your own fully comprehensive insurance.

For example: Handbrake, lights, tail lift controls etc.

For example: Seat height, Door mirrors adjusted etc

Since we are on the subject - where is the fuel filler located?

Will it fit under the canopy of my local garage?

Or, the low bridge or archway I need to drive under?

Will the van fit into a multi-storey car park with an entrance gantry?

Will my load make me illegally overloaded?

What do I do if I have a puncture, blow-out or a breakdown?
Phone PFB, we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and always have your vehicle registration number and tyre size handy if you need to call.
NB: We do not supply jacks with any of our vehicles. This is because it can be dangerous trying to change a tyre on a loaded vehicle, particularly if you are on the
motorway. However, if you do have a puncture ring our office where we will arrange for assistance by the quickest means.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT?
Take the third party details and witnesses names and addresses and registration numbers.
You must report any accidents to us within 24 hours. You will also need to visit our premises during office hours to complete an accident claim form and to pay the appropriate insurance excess. (Not applicable if you are covering our vehicle with your own insurance cover).
DO I NEED AN OPERATORS LICENCE TO HIRE A LORRY?
If you are hiring a vehicle in excess of 3500KG GVW (i.e. Mercedes 412D or 7.5 Tonne or larger) and using it for business purposes, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate O-Licence. Please ask if you are unsure.
